Huge turnout of people
for Arbaeen a manifestation of prominent features of the school of
Prophet: Leader
30 November 2015 09:37
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the
mass march towards the Iraqi city of Karbala to mark the Arba’een ritual
is a show of the combination of faith and devotion.
According to Press TV, Ayatollah Khamenei, who was addressing a group
of Iranian religious scholars during a post-jurisprudence course on Monday,
described as a “lasting privilege” the Arba’een, which marks 40 days after
the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), grandson and the 3rd infallible
successor of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA).
The Leader said that the massive turnout of people from around the
world and Iran in the march toward Karbala is a manifestation of the
prominent features of the school of Prophet Mohammad’s Household.
Ayatollah Khamenei said: “The combination of devotion and faith and
wisdom and affection is among the unique features of the school of Prophet
Mohammad’s Household.”
According to the reports, in Karbala black-clad mourners from various
countries including Iran, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and India, are
traveling to Karbala not only to mark the occasion but also to reaffirm
their allegiance to Imam Hussein.
Five million of these pilgrims are estimated to be coming from Iran.
The pilgrims, among them Sunni Muslims and Christians, showed their
commitment to Imam Hussein (AS) by walking tens of miles barefoot to reach
his shrine.
Iraqi forces have tightened security to protect pilgrims against
possible terrorist attacks ahead of the mourning rituals, which falls on
December 2 this year.
Leader stresses
continuation of progresses in the Navy
29 November 2015 14:00
Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed the continuation of
advancements in the Iranian Navy.
Addressing the commanders and officials of the Navy on Sunday,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made it clear that before the Islamic
Revolution the importance, grandeur and sensitivity of sea was ignored but
today the Iranian navy has made a lot of progresses, but there is a great
distance till the ideal point.
Speaking on the occasion of the Navy Day, the leader described the sea
as the arena of powerful confrontation with the enemies and effective
cooperation with the friends, adding: “Access to high seas, connection to
the four corners of the world, and the possibility of defending the
country are among the blessings of the sea which should be heeded by the
Iranian people and officials.”
Ayatollah Khamenei, calling achievement of the status that the Iranian
nation and the Islamic Republic deserve as the great responsibility of the
Navy, said “The righteous, agile manpower with correct thought and
management beside steadfastness, firm resolve, trust in God and hope in
the future” are the most effective elements for taking Iran to its
historical place fitting its status.
The leader of the Islamic Revolution, referring to the importance of
the Sea of Oman and the coasts of Makran, stated: “This region is a
fundamental point in fulfilling the responsibility of the Navy and the
government has also received necessary recommendations about revival of
the region.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei described the
astonishing victory of the Iranian nation during the sacred defense and
frustrating the enemy, who enjoyed military possibilities and supports, as
an example of the miracle of manpower.
The leader reiterated: “Today the abilities and advancements of the
Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic’s armed forces have increased
manifold; and through steadfastness, will, firm resolve and optimism a
brighter future which the Iranian nation deserves can be attained.”
Accusing Basij of
radicalism completes enemy’s infiltration project: Leader
25 November 2015 10:19
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says
those people who accuse Basij force of being radical are in fact
completing the enemy’s infiltration project.
Ayatollah Khamenei made remarks in a meeting with thousands of Basij
commanders from across the country in Tehran on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Leader once again explained about enemy’s
efforts to infiltrate the country under various excuses, saying, “The [issue]
of [enemy’s] infiltration is a very important issue.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said the fact that some people intend to take
advantage of the issue of “influence” in favor of their own political
faction, does not reduce the importance of this issue because the enemy is
devising plots against the country.
“Today, infiltrating into [political] currents is more dangerous than
influencing individuals,” the Leader noted, adding that infiltrating into
a political current means to build a network within the nation by spending
money and banking on sexual attractions in order to change beliefs, ideals,
views and lifestyle of the nation.
Praising Iran's Basij force as an “unending treasure,” the Leader
warned that those people who accuse Basij of being extremist and radical
“are completing the enemy’s infiltration project.”
“Basij is among strong embankments [of the country], which should not
be undermined,” Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized.
The Leader then turned to the Intifada (uprising) of the Palestinian
people in the occupied territories, saying, “The Intifada of Palestinian
people in the West Bank has started and people are fighting [against the
Zionist regime].”
“About 60 years have passed since the occupation of Palestine and these
people have changed for a number of generations, but the cause of
Palestine still exists,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, noting that the enemy
aims to eliminate this cause.
“We will defend the movement of the Palestinian people in any way that
we can,” the Leader emphasized.
Iran backs anyone
fighting bullying, hegemony: Leader
24 November 2015 16:54
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says
Iran throws its weight behind those standing up to bullying and hegemony
across the globe.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran supports anyone, wherever in the world,
who resists bullying and hegemony,” Ayatollah Khamenei told Bolivian
President Evo Morales in a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday.
The Leader hailed the “appealing and heroic” resistance of Bolivia and
some other Latin American states against the bullying of hegemonic powers
and said the US is pursuing a dangerous policy across the world, aimed at
changing the identity of youth.
“If the Americans achieve success in this policy and manage to turn the
youths’ minds into an American thought, they will dominate countries
without having to foment any military coup and [having to take any] tough
actions,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
He stressed the importance of resisting against such a hegemonic policy
by strengthening determination and enhancing cooperation.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution praised Bolivia’s resistance
against the US excessive demands.
Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran was the “first country in the world to
fully break loose from the US dominance” thanks to a popular movement led
by the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, adding that the
Iranians resisted military, security and economic pressure exerted by then
empires of East and West.
The Leader added that Bolivia’s great potential and its relations with
Iran can strengthen resistance against bullying powers.
The Bolivian president, for his part, expressed pleasure over his
meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei and said the US intervention in the
countries’ domestic affairs has been troublesome.
“We regard His Excellency as the father and guide of all independent
revolutions and particularly the revolutions in the Latin American region
and we have learnt lots of lessons from your valuable, inspirational and
hope-inspiring speeches,” he said
He added that after taking office in 2006, he had dismissed the US
warning against relations with Iran and said: “We are an independent
country and we do not get permission from anybody for relationship with
others.”
The Bolivian president further said Iran and Bolivia are two historical,
cultural and popular allies and expressed hope that bilateral relations
will be broadened in different sectors.
Leader stresses: Daesh,
other terrorist groups falsely operating in the name of Islam
24 November 2015 11:19
Leader of the Islamic Revolution met and conferred with Algerian Prime
Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
During the meeting, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Daesh and the
terrorist groups falsely operating in the name of Islam have been created
by and are receiving support from certain entities.
The Leader said “The Islamic countries that care and share more common
understanding can reach a practical way of fighting terrorists through
dialog and cooperation”.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the resistance front that had been
established by Algeria, Iran, Syria and several other countries at the
time of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and said certain
countries that blindly follow the US prevented the continuation of such a
formation of countries.
He emphasized that “If such a formation is established again, these
Islamic countries can have impacts in important issues in the Muslim world
and take practical measures for tackling regional problems and fighting
terrorists.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said the level of cooperation between Tehran and
Algiers as “very low,” and expressed hope that the ties would soon expand.
The Leader also wished Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika a quick
recovery.
Sellal, for his part, said the viewpoints of Algeria and Iran regarding
political issues, especially on the fight against Daesh and other
terrorists, are very similar, and hoped that economic relations between
the two countries also reach an acceptable level.
Algerian prime minister traveled to the Iranian capital to participate
in the third summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
Leader urges vigilance
to thwart US plot for West Asia
23 November 2015 17:50
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the
long-term US plot for Western Asia is against the interests of all
countries, particularly Iran and Russia, urging vigilance and close
interaction to thwart the scheme.
According to Press TV, in a meeting with visiting Russian President
Vladimir Putin in Tehran on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the US has a
long-term plot to take control of the whole of West Asia by dominating
Syria and then expanding its dominion over the entire region, saying,
“This plot is a threat to all nations and countries, particularly Russia
and Iran.”
The Leader hailed Russia’s influential role in regional issues,
particularly in the Syrian conflict, and said Moscow’s decisions and
measures in dealing with developments in Damascus enhanced the regional
and international standing of Russia and President Putin in particular.
“The Americans have always been trying to place their rivals in a
position of passivity but you have foiled such a policy,” Ayatollah
Khamenei said.
The US and its followers are seeking to achieve through political means
and negotiations the objectives that they have failed to obtain via
military approaches, the Leader said, adding vigilance and a proactive
stance are necessary to prevent this goal from being realized.
Ayatollah Khamenei said Washington’s insistence on the ouster of
Syria’s legitimate and democratically-elected President Bashar al-Assad is
among the weaknesses of the US policies.
The Leader said the Syrian president, in a national election, succeeded
in winning the majority of votes of the Syrian people with “different
political, religious and ethnic” viewpoints and emphasized that the US has
no right to ignore the Syrians’ choice.
Ayatollah Khamenei said every solution on the Syrian crisis should be
endorsed by the country’s nation and officials.
The Leader stated that Washington’s direct and indirect aid to
terrorist groups, including Daesh, is among other obvious flaws in
Washington’s policies.
Washington’s “cooperation with countries which have no standing in the
public opinion of regional and world [nations] due to their support for
terrorists shows that the Americans have no honorable diplomacy,”
Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Leader stressed that with the particular exception of the nuclear
issue, Iran does not and will not engage in mutual negotiations with the
US about Syria or any other issues.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the proper settlement of the Syrian issue will
be “very important” and will play an effective role on determining the
future of the region.
If the terrorists who are committing atrocious crimes in Syria are not
crushed, the expanse of their activities will spill over into the Central
Asia and other parts of the world, the Leader warned.
Elsewhere, the Leader welcomed the further enhancement of Tehran-Moscow
cooperation on bilateral, regional and international issues.
Ayatollah Khamenei commended Russia’s efforts on the Iranian nuclear
issue and said, “This issue came to a conclusion but we have no trust in
the Americans and are monitoring the US government’s attitude and
performance in this regard with open eyes.”
The Leader said President Putin and Iranian officials are determined to
expand mutual relations and added that the two countries should further
improve cooperation, particularly in economy.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the appropriate level of cooperation
between Tehran and Moscow in politics and security and said the Russian
president has pursued a “very good and innovative” stance on different
issues, particularly over the past 1.5 years.
The Russian president, for his part, said Tehran and Moscow have very
close positions on the Syrian crisis and added that his country emphasizes
that the conflict should be solved through the adoption of political
approaches and resignation to the demands of the Syrian people and groups.
No country has the right to impose its views on the Syrian people and
make decisions about the structure of the government and the nation’s
president on behalf of them, Putin said.
He added that Russia would proceed with its airstrikes against
terrorist groups in Syria and stressed the importance of Tehran-Moscow
cooperation about solving the Syrian crisis through political approaches.
Putin praised his country’s very active cooperation with Iran on
security issues and the settlement of regional and global crises.
At the end of the meeting, the Russian president presented Ayatollah
Khamenei with one of the oldest manuscripts of the Holy Qur’an as a very
precious gift. The Leader thanked Putin for the gift.
Resistance, sole way to
progress: Leader
23 November 2015 10:00
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says
resistance is the sole way for independent countries to progress.
“Today, the policies of [global] arrogance have afflicted humanity like
a blight; and the sole way for progress and victory by independent
countries is ‘resistance’ and ‘relying on masses of people’ in the ‘war of
wills,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Leader made the remarks in a Monday meeting with Venezuelan
President Nicolas Maduro in the Iranian capital, Tehran, where Maduro is
to take part in the third summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
The Leader pointed to the United States’ policies toward Latin America,
and noted that the US used to regard the region as its “backyard;” however,
Venezuela managed to turn the region into an independent one and one with
an identity of its own.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the scientific and technological
advancements by Iran and said such progress in the face of pressure and
sanctions by enemies was made possible by the presence and cooperation of
the people.
The Leader emphasized the boosting of ties between the Islamic Republic
and Venezuela, and noted, “Iran considers Venezuela’s progress and success
as those of its own.”
Maduro said Iran and Venezuela are true friends.
He said imperialist countries seek to destroy the independence of other
states by stoking unrest and attempting to humiliate them and their
identities.
Terrorist crimes have
nothing to do with Islam: Leader
22 November 2015 17:40
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the
atrocities committed by Takfiri terrorists have nothing to do with Islam.
The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Turkmen
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in the Iranian capital Tehran on
Sunday.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the terrorist groups’ savage crimes, such as
beheading and torching people, show that they know nothing about Islam,
noting, “Islam is the religion of fraternity, kindness and seeking the
best for others and these crimes have nothing to do with Islam.”
“In countering the violent terrorism and barbarism committed by Daesh
and like-minded Takfiri groups committing these crimes in the name of
Islam, people should be given the chance to practice rightful Islamic
activities," said the Leader.
The best way for blocking the infiltration of the Takfiri currents, the
Leader said, is to bolster genuine Islamic ideologies, which he described
as "moderate and sensible."
Ayatollah Khamenei also described the nations of Iran and neighboring
Turkmenistan as close relatives and underscored the need for the two
countries to take “effective and practical” steps with a view to
implementing bilateral agreements.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined the necessity for Iran
and Turkmenistan to further cooperation amid tense conditions prevailing
in the region.
“Iran-Turkmenistan border are frontiers of peace and calm, and are
reason for the two sides' peace of mind and the possibility of using the
Iran route for access to the Persian Gulf and high seas is a valuable
opportunity for Turkmenistan,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.
For his part, the Turkmen president described as unfavorable the
ongoing political conditions in the region and noted that Daesh and its
followers are foreigners to the teachings of Islam. He expressed regret
that certain governments are supporting the Daesh terrorists.
Berdimuhamedow also expressed delight with his meeting with Ayatollah
Khamenei, saying Iran and Turkmenistan maintain historically good ties.
He welcomed Ayatollah Khamenei’s description of Iranian and Turkmen
nations as close relatives and said the implementation of the
recommendations of the Leader during previous visits have born fruitful
results.
The Turkmen leader also said that some countries are interested in
becoming linked to high seas through Iran and Turkmenistan.
Gurbanguly arrived in Tehran earlier in the day on a visit aimed at
boosting the bilateral ties.
So far during the visit, Iran and Turkmenistan have signed nine
memorandums of understanding for the expansion of cooperation in different
fields, including the health and medical sector, media, power transfer,
sports, transportation, and housing.
During his stay, the Turkmen president is also to attend the third Gas
Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit, which is to be held in the
Iranian capital on Monday, with nine heads of states, including Russia’s
President Vladimir Putin in attendance.

Leader’s guidelines with
regards to environmental policies of the Islamic Republic
17 November 2015 13:19
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei,
has issued a set of guidelines on environmental policies, in a letter to
the heads of the three branches of the Iranian government, in relation to
implementation of article 110 of Iran’s constitution.
In his letter, the Leader sets out the central planks of Iran’s
environmental policies, which includes the formation of a national
environmental strategy, coordinated management of Iran’s natural
environmental resources, toughening up of laws and penalties dealing with
environmental destruction, drawing up of an atlas of flora and fauna of
Iran, strengthening of environmental diplomacy, boosting Iran’s “green
economy”, and the promotion of cultural and environmental ethics based on
Iranian and Islamic values.
The overall environmental policies were arrived at after consultations
with experts of Iran’s Expediency Council, and these have been set out in
a letter to the heads of the three branches of the government.
The letter emphasizes the setting up of a coordinated environmental
strategy, as well as providing a healthy environment for all the people to
live in, and observing environmental justice and making sure that future
generations can also benefit from a healthy environment.
The letter also called for constant monitoring of the environment, and
strict control of polluting agents of water, soil and air.
The Leader’s letter also calls for monitoring and “management” of
climate change, as well as ways of countering various environmental
threats , such as desertification, sand storms and dust particles, drought
, and environmental damage caused by radioactivity. The letter says a
close eye should also be kept on new environmental threats and phenomena.
In his letter the Leader also emphasized that fuels which are
environmentally-friendly should also be promoted.
The Leader also said steps should be taken to make the manufacturing
sector more environmentally-friendly, and consumption of water, food,
resources and energy should be optimized to minimize damage to the
environment.
The Leader also calls for bilateral and multilateral efforts to fight
environmental pollution in the region, as well as the wider world.
Leader says Iran
progressed despite Western restrictions
11 November 2015 10:16
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says
conditions set by Western countries for supplying Iran with nuclear fuel
prompted the country’s young scientists to produce the fuel on Iran's soil.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with heads of Iranian
universities and higher education centers in the capital, Tehran, on
Wednesday.
“ln the case of selling 20-percent [nuclear] fuel [to Iran], Western [countries]
set humiliating conditions. Of course, this ended in our favor and our
youths made effort and produced it [inside the country],” the Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the success of the Iranian youths in
producing nuclear fuel inside the country put Western countries “on edge.”
The Leader noted that according to the latest figures, Iran has gone
down two notches in terms of the pace of its scientific progress.
“This is bad. With this pace of scientific progress we are way behind.
We have been kept behind for many long years,” the Leader added.
Noting that the United States started its scientific progress 140 years
ahead of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The issue that amazed the world
is the speed of our progress. They said the speed of the Islamic
Republic’s scientific growth is 13 times that of the world’s [scientific]
growth figure.”
Criticizing occasional un-Islamic moves in some universities, Ayatollah
Khamenei said, “Some people have mistaken cultural work in universities
for mixed concerts and camps.”
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that cultural activities should train
students who would be “creative, revolutionary, believing in [religious]
ideals, loving their country and the Establishment, with insight, with
self-confidence” and full of hope.
The Leader also told officials to give enough latitude to “faithful and
revolutionary” youths for their activities.
03 November 2015 10:05
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the
United States is the main enemy of Iran.
According to Press TV, Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a Tuesday
meeting with Iranian students in the capital, Tehran.
According to the Iranian calendar, Wednesday, Aban 13, marks the day
when Iranian students took over the US embassy in Tehran, dubbed the “den
of espionage,” back in 1979. It has been named the ‘National Day of
Fighting Global Arrogance’.
In his Tuesday remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the 1953 coup
d’état against former Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq, and noted
the then-premier made a mistake by putting his trust in the US after the
Iranian oil industry was nationalized.
The Leader said the US has in recent years been involved in having
certain individuals conceal its hostile intentions against Iran. Ayatollah
Khamenei said the objective is to hide the real intention of the enemy
from Iran so foes can harm the country.
The Leader said some people do that with evil motives, some others out
of folly.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged Iranian students to learn lessons from the US
embassy takeover, noting that those students who seized the embassy found
out that it was a “den of espionage.”
The Leader said “This shows that the Americans, at the height of the
revolutionary movement and the victory of the Revolution, were conspiring
against the Islamic Republic; that is what America is.”
The Leader pointed to the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1
group and said it was the strength of the Iranian nation that forced the
countries that claim a world power status to join each other and rise up
to the Iranian nation and employ the hostile measures that they did in the
hope that the Iranian nation would no more be able to stand on its feet.
Ayatollah Khamenei said “That is the power of the Iranian nation.”
The Leader said taking insignificant internal issues as pretexts, some
people forget who the enemy is, adding that “Of course, the society is
free, and criticism leads to progress; however, one shouldn’t mistake the
main enemy with secondary enemies and with friends with whom one has
disagreements.”
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said “The main enemy is he who
seeks to destroy the achievement of the Iranian nation.”
The Leader said “In the negotiations, claiming that they opposed war,
Americans even shed tears in front of cameras. This is the very person who
doesn’t bother when Zionists cut to pieces hundreds of children in Gaza.
Is crying in front of the camera a sincere act?”
The Leader noted “The slogan ‘Death to America’ is backed by reason and
wisdom; and it goes without saying that the slogan does not mean death to
the American nation; this slogan means death to the US policies, death to
arrogance.”
Urging alertness by the youth in the face of such attempts, Ayatollah
Khamenei said “Our universities were one day a bridge to the West; today,
they are ladders to reach high goals; certain people want to destroy this
ladder and replace it with that bridge to the West.”
Leader says US major part
of regional problems, not solution
01 November 2015 11:31
Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the United States is behind a
major part of the existing problems in the region, not a solution to them.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, along with Iran's ambassadors and
heads of diplomatic missions to other countries on Sunday.
Rejecting foreign propaganda about “compulsory or self-imposed” changes
in Iran's foreign policy, the Leader said such an analysis on the part of
the Western countries “stems from the pressure exerted on them as a result
of this reality that the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic, at least
at regional level, has prevented unrivaled jockeying of hegemonic powers,
especially America like a strong barrier” and this is why they always
aspire these policies to be changed.
He added that Iran’s foreign policy, like all world countries, is
predicated upon long-term interests, principles and values of the country
and will not change with administrations holding different political views.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the impact of different administrations only
goes as far as the tactics and executive initiatives of the country’s
foreign policy strategies. The Leader emphasized that the US objectives in
the Middle East are diametrically opposed to those of Iran. He further
pointed to the four-year crisis in Syria and said holding elections is the
solution to the Arab country’s conflict.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that financial and
military support for militants must first be terminated to end war and
unrest in Syria so that the Syrian people would be able to elect who they
wish in a secure and safe atmosphere.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei also said the partitioning of Iraq into
Shia Arab, Sunni Arab and Kurdish regions is completely against its
national interests and is an “impractical, meaningless and unacceptable”
plan.
