Resurrection of Islam is indebtted to Iranian martyrs

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei likened the Iranian nation's martyrs and war veterans to the roots of the soaring majesty of the Islamic System.

"The historical resurrection of Islam and the awakening of the Islamic umma (community) is indebted to the movement of the Iranian nation and the sacrifices the families of its martyrs made. In the past three decades, thee sacrifices have helped advance the cause by a distance normally to be covered in hundreds of years," Ayatollah Khamenei told the families of martyrs in Yazd province central Iran Thursday.

"Not only the Iranian nation takes honor in them (Iranian martyrs), they are also a source of pride for human generation," Ayatollah Khamenei said, touching on the robust defense the Iranian soldiers mounted against the western-backed invading forces of the executed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein credited as Sacred Defense among the Iranian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei then paid homage to those who lost their body parts in the sacred defense, known as Janbaz (sacrificing soldier) among the Iranian nation, describing them as live martyrs.

Ayatollah Khamenei recalled the ordeal the Janbaz people are enduring in their life, adding, "For every moment these dear folks endure the pain and difficulties of being a Janbaz thankful to God for His Will, they would indeed be rewarded by God so much so that they would be crowned as martyrs by Him when they meet Him provided they keep the same spirit."

No benefit in US ties for now

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei alerted the Iranian people in an academic convention Thursday that the enemy seeks to devise newer tactics against the nation following its massive failures in recent months, urging the people, especially the elites to counter sources of weakness through promotion of national confidence.

The IR Leader expressed deep pleasure at his meeting with university students of Yazd province central Iran which was held in a cordial atmosphere and where he outlined the sources of national confidence as the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, the victory in the Sacred Defense (1980-88), the noble personality of Imam Khomeini, may Allah be pleased with him and the national accomplishments in different fields, including nuclear technology.

"The Iranian nation is just mid-way to realize its aspirations amid the regional and international contest for further progress. The nation must grab the first stand in different spheres when the scheduled time for the implementation of the 20-Year Vision plan is covered," Ayatollah Khamenei encouraged, noting that the goal will materialize through an boosted national confidence and further quickening of the pace of progress.

"The American government, the incarnate of evil, as well as the other domineering powers in their path to their goals have encountered a major obstacle namely the persevering Iranian nation. This is the motive behind the West's dispute with the Islamic Republic of Iran," Ayatollah Khamenei observed.

"As a matter of fact, they consider the Islamic System as the main cause of their Middle East failures and the key driver to expose the true side of the West's empty slogans about democracy and combat against terrorism," the IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei then recalled America's futile bid to impede Iran's nuclear progress. "Americans once could not come to grips with the launching of just five centrifuges in Iran and insisted until a few months earlier that Iran must relinquish all its nuclear activities. However, under the perseverance of the Iranian nation the situation changed so that they now say to Iran 'stop at this level of progress and do not advance any farther.'"

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that as a natural outcome of their failures the enemies will seek to find new ways to deliver blows to the Iranian nation, concluding that in the current conditions, the national confidence proves more essential than any other time.

"Today national confidence is more essential than ever. The nation, especially the university students, the elites and the authorities, must identify and foresee the new tactics of the aliens to undermine Iran and thwart their plots," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei then highlighted the significance of national confidence, saying, "Given confidence is absent from a nation it would remain stuck in backwardness forever, gazing at others for help."

"The existence of national confidence however would produce the motivation in the mind of elites to try to materialize national needs followed by such achievements that cross-produce other achievements," Ayatollah Khamenei compared, noting that the nation has witnessed the reality in its Sacred Defense (1980-88) against the invading Saddam Hussein forces as well as in other national tests.

Ayatollah Khamenei outlined the enemy tactics to undercut national confidence of the Iranian people as 'provocation of pessimism and frustration,' 'deviation of talents' and 'threats of a military attack.'

"The aliens try to frustrate people, especially the youths by denying the existing progress, by accentuating the distance between the Iranian nation and the advanced nations and by picturing a bleak prospect. However, the nation would keep ascension to the peaks of progress by identifying the realities and by relying on its youths and its experiences of the last three decades," Ayatollah Khamenei said confidently.

The IR Leader criticized some voices inside the country which are attuned with the alien's frustrating propaganda waves.

"Some people were once alleging that the construction and commissioning of centrifuges in Iran is not true. But when the ability of the nation's scientists was proved they claimed that the effort to use nuclear energy is costly and useless which is also a phony claim," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

On the same account, Ayatollah Khamenei noted, "The Iranian nation has to have 20 thousand megawatts of nuclear electricity in the next twenty years otherwise it has to relinquish the progressive trend. Accordingly,it might be late even today that the system has put its back into nuclear energy."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the perception that the young Iranian scientists are not able to construct a nuclear plant is affected by the propagandas of the opponents of Iran's progress.

"A nation which has developed large centers of enrichment thank to its youths could also construct nuclear plants by its powerful hand and thought and would not let any delay in this regard," Ayatollah Khamenei underlined.

Regarding the US President's recent remarks that 'now that the Russians has provided fuel to Iran's nuclear plant, the Iranians must relinquish enrichment', Ayatollah Khamenei said, "The hilarious remark is like the situation where a country, rich with oil reserves, is ordered to supply its oil needs oversease."

"Given that one day the present providers of fuel to nuclear plant deny the product from Iran on any ground or put stiff conditions on its provision, then would not the nation have to surrender to them?" Ayatollah Khamenei asked.

Recalling the nationwide delight at the recent great nuclear accomplishments, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the achievements would help boost national confidence despite some people who challenge the system and the administration over those achievements and wontedly or unwontedly help undermine national confidence.

Recalling the backward attitude on the part of the then administration a few years ago in the face of the enemy's nuclear demands, Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the developments laid bare the empty promises of the west because the voluntary, temporary suspension of enrichment by Iran was moving towards a full removal of nuclear activities due to enemy abuses.

"I underlined at that time that I would enter the field if the demands of the other nuclear parties persisted and by my decision the looming stoppage in nuclear activities turned into a progressive nuclear drive."

Further on the account of the enemy tactics to undermine national confidence, Ayatollah Khamenei turned to the issue of resumption of relations with America, saying, "Cutting ties with America is among our basic policies. However, we have never said that the relations will remain severed forever. At the same time, the conditions of the American government are such that any relations would prove harmful to the nation and thereby we are not pursuing them."

Concerning the debilitative outcomes of a resumption of relations with America, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "For one thing, the relation would not reduce the size of America's peril because it attacked Iraq while it had political relations with the country. Secondly, any relations would provide the possibility to the Americans to infiltrate Iran and would pave the way for their intelligence and spy agents."

"For these reasons, unlike the claims of some peddling people, relations with America has no benefit for the Iranian nation for now. Undoubtedly, the day the relations with America prove beneficial for the Iranian nation I will be the first one to approve of that," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

"Some people accuse us of provocation of America's hostility. However, the country in fact keeps enmity towards the principles of the Iranian nation and its hostility has been there since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution," the IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei then warned that the illogical and persisting criticism against any measures taken by the country's management, especially the executive power would undermine people's hope and liveliness, adding that the serving administration like the other past administrations has shortcomings which must be brought to them in a sincere manner.

Ayatollah Khamenei thanked President Ahmadinejad Administration for their initiative to stage regular provincial visits to resolve the people's problems firsthand, urging the press and media to avoid carping in this regard.

In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei described media rabble rousing as one of the tactics of the western press and media to undermine the Iranians' national confidence.

Ayatollah Khamenei denounced western media's claims about human rights situation in Iran, saying, "Those whose Guantanamo prison and Abu Ghuraib torture unit would make any noble human ashamed are accusing Iran and any other opponent government of human rights violation."

Ayatollah Khamenei in the same sphere named the propaganda allegations of lack of democracy in Iran as another enemy tactic to undermine the Iranian nation's national confidence.

"The Iranian nation almost once a year has taken part in an election in an enthusiastic climate to choose any candidates it wishes for from among different contesting parties. Does democracy mean otherwise in other countries?"

The Islamic Revolution Leader moreover described the women issue as another excuse in hand of the west to pressure the Iranian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the blatant violation of women's rights and the breakdown of their nobility and honor under the western liberal democracy, adding, "The western governments despite the atrocities they commit against women are accusing the noble Iranian nation of violation of human rights. The rabble rousing however would have no effect inside the country."

The Leader then raised the threats of an American attack on Iran, saying, "The likelihood of an attack is lower today. At the same time, the Iranian nation has been subject to military threats of the enemies since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and especially since the culmination of the Sacred Defense. In any situation however the likelihood of an attack and the danger of the enemy would shrink as a result of the Iranian nation's strength and confidence."

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the nation and the authorities to remain on alert despite the fact that the possibilities of an attack are lower

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei raised the nowadays economic, political and social concerns with hundreds of Iranian scholars in Yazd province central Iran Wednesday night, urging them to take the urgency of providing the society with religious support.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the present time concerns require the convention of Islamic scholars to observe prudence and foresight and enhance their faithfulness and knowledge command so that they could meet the needs and demands of people from all walks of life.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that to keep pace with the demands of time the society requires a double effort by theory-making Islamic scholars who have a strong jurisprudent command and move abreast of time.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged for further enhancement of educational structure of Howzeh (Islamic jurisprudence faculties) countrywide and appreciated the Qom province-based Howze for the new educational approach it has taken lately.

"The auspicious flourish must expand so that after a defintie time, highly educated jurisprudents emerge in all cities to promote religious knowledge. The mission first requires enhancement of knowledge command in Howzeh," the IR Leader encouraged.

Ayatollah Khamenei also required the Alims (Islamic scholars) to adopt a comprehensive look in their researches and arguments. The IR Leader recalled the great job of Imam Khomeini, the departed, to raise the concerns of society and world in Howzeh, adding that given an Alim suffers lack of the comprehensive look he would risk misidentifying the call of Divine orders or trivializing the scope of those prospering directives.

In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei raised the much-discussed issue of 'promotion of virtue and prevention of vice' in society, adding that the virtue will be appropriately promoted when an Islamic community is established and the vice will be fully prevented when a scoundrel, non-believer community is demoted.

"Given lack of a comprehensive look, this great Divine directive would be confined to trivial matters," Ayatollah Khamenei alerted.

Ayatollah Khamenei also named foresight as another requirement for an Alim, saying, "An Alim would be helpful only when he practices foresight because without foresight, a scholar would mistake the position of enemy and would direct at the friends as having already occured in several unfortunate cases in political, social, and religious spheres."

"Also today, people are interested in the Koran, the religion and the Rohaniyat (community of Alims). The Alims must abandon cliche-laden arguments and offer fresh words to different classes of people with different intellectual levels," Ayatollah Khamenei called, noting that to realize the goal, extensive study of the works and thoughts of the martyred scholar Morteza Motahhari was essential for the religious researchers.

The Islamic Revolution Leader moreover urged the Alims to couple devoutness with knowledge, saying that the scholars must purify their souls so that people could trace no greed in their character.

The Islamic Revolution Leader concluded his remarks by urging the community of religious scholars to widen mutual relations with the country's management, particularly the executive body

"Vote to those who are most careful about the needs and requirements of the people," the IR Leader encouraged, adding that once the best nominees were voted in, a Majlis (parliament) which best caters to the needs of the people would be convened.

Ayatollah Khamenei strongly urged the election candidates and their supporters to avoid any acts of defamations, ethics breaches and libels during their campaigns.

"Defamation of people by nightly campaign leaflets, the press, the web sites and by any other means is never allowed and flouts the good of the nation. I strongly call on the supporters of the nominees to take care to only campaign for their intended people and avoid the regular defamatory methods practiced in some other countries," Ayatollah Khamenei encouraged.

Ayatollah Khamenei called religious democracy a fresh version of government existing alongside other versions of democracy in the world, adding, "the Iranian nation inspired by its faith in God has opted for the dear Islam as platform of democracy, presenting the world with religious and Islamic democracy. This has prompted the Muslim nations to look up to the nation."

The IR Leader recalled a raft of propaganda campaigns against the IRI policy regarding religious democracy, women issue, foreign diplomacy, and relations with superpowers, adding that the Iranian nation has not been and would not be fooled by the rabble rousing.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the confident mood of the nation had been the driving force behind its remarkable advances in nuclear technology and the super-modern stem cells science as well as its accomplishment to cure some refractory diseases. The Leader confidently said that the nation would keep the path of progress.

Ayatollah Khamenei expressed pleasure with the pioneering measure of President Ahmadinejad Administration to stage regular provincial visits to identify and settle problems firsthand adding that the ratifications reached in these visits are invaluable.

"Resolution of problems is not an easy work. However, the authorities are making untiring effort to lift the problems. This is an invaluable effort," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

"The Iranian nation is alert. It has found that the authorities are sincere. Hence the ever solidifying bond between the people and the authorities," Ayatollah Khamenei added
