Leader Appoints Hassan Khomeini Custodian of Imam's Mausoleum (27.4.1995)

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK TEHRAN - Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, yesterday appointed Hojjatoleslam Hassan Khomeini as the custodian of the late Imam Khomeini's mausoleum. Responding to a letter from Hojjatoleslam Hassan Khomeini, grandson of the late Imam, the Leader assigned him to the custodianship of the institute which is to compile and publish the late Imam's works. Hojjatoleslam Hassan Khomeini, son of the late Hojjatoleslam Ahmad Khomeini, had asked for the Leader's approval of a part of Seyyed Ahmad Khomeini's last will which had requested the custodianship. The Leader commissioned Hojjatoleslam Hassan Khomeini to take charge of the mausoleum and the institute.

Iran Carries Message of Peace and Friendship (20.4.1995)

Iran News, TEHRAN - Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, yesterday told a gathering of Army commanders and personnel here that Iran's message to the world is one of peace, security and friendship.
He said, "it is natural for us to want calm in order to carry this message and other messages of the Islamic Republic to peoples of the world...but the bullying enemy, afraid of our message, is trying to prevent it from reaching peoples throughout the world through hue and cry."
Ayatollah Khamenei dismissed enemy statements accusing Iran of state terrorism and militarism as "nonsense", stressing that "we are not war-mongers and are opposed to war-mongering in accordance with our principles."
The Leader praised the revolutionary zeal of IRI's armed forces and said they are even more disciplined and faithful than 16 years ago.
Ayatollah Khamenei applauded the self-sacrificing service of armed forces personnel during the eight years of Iraqi-imposed war (1980-1988) saying that such devotion was a blow to global arrogance. He said tyrannical powers of the world, including former rulers of Iran, used the army for their own purposes, but, in today's Iran the armed forces aim is to protect religious and national causes, and to defend the country.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces said their faith in Islam and their patriotism was the key to their victory over their enemy.

Leader Receives President (18.4.1995)

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK TEHRAN - President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei Sunday night. The visit took place on the eve of the President's two-nation tour of India and Georgia. Hojjatoleslam Rafsanjani left here at the head of a huge delegation, including several ministers, for India and Georgia.

Leader Praises Housing Services (12.4.1995)

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK TEHRAN - The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei here on Monday praised the services rendered by the Housing Foundation of the Islamic Revolution, to the lower income groups. In a meeting with the officials of the foundation on the anniversary of the late Imam Khomeini's order to set up the organization, he said the objective of establishing the foundation was to help the deprived. The Leader added that the officials of the foundation have successfully discharged their duties. He said that if the people are informed of the valuable services of the Housing Foundation, they will certainly help with donations. Prior to the Leader's remarks, the representative of the Leader at the Housing Foundation, Hojjatoleslam Rasouli Mahallati, briefed Ayatollah Khamenei on the activities of the foundation on building affordable housing at the war-stricken, flood-hit and quake-hit areas. The Leader contributed 10,000,000 rials to the bank account No. 100 of the foundation to help the deprived throughout the country.

Leader Receives the Late Imam's Family (5.4.1995)

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK TEHRAN - Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, met with the widow of the late Imam Khomeini (R.H.), Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, and members of the family of the late Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Ahmad Khomeini yesterday and once again offered his condolences. He stated that, "the belief that one is under the divine will, reduces the bitterness of such events...such losses and calamities are according to the nature of the world... but exalted God wants to promote the status of those who endure such sufferings." Addressing the widow of Imam Khomeini (R.H.), the Leader said: "Exalted God wants to promote your status with such calamities because of your hard work for the great Imam..." The Imam's widow thanked the leader for his kindness to the members of the household of the departed Imam. The late Imam's grandson expressed his and his family's submission to the divine will, and wished for continuation of the Islamic Republic and its protection by the able hands of the Leader of the revolution and the loyal aides of the Imam.

Ayatollah Khamenei Leads Eid Prayer (3.4.1995)

Iran News, IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK TEHRAN The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei says the dignity and prestige of Muslims depended on consolidation of their ranks. Leading the massive Eid al-Fetr prayer here Thursday, Ayatollah Khamenei warned of the vicious intentions of the enemies of Islam to create differences and sow discord among Muslims. The festival marked the end of the holy month of Ramadhan and the beginning of the month of Shawwal in Iran. "By masterminding organized plots, the enemies are attempting to pit Muslims against each other because they have realized that Islam has inspired new hopes in the hearts of people," said the Leader, quoted by IRNA. He said the Islamic Revolution has dealt heavy blows on arrogant powers, led by the U.S. and for that reason they are trying to create rifts among Muslims. "The strong and heroic Iranian nation and government, while adhering to Islamic teachings, are extending friendly hands to offer assistance to all Muslim nations," the Leader noted. He regretted that the present situation in Chechnya, Bosnia, Lebanon and Kashmir was a result of lack of unity among Muslims. The Leader said the people's presence in all social and political scenes would help settlement of the problems and bring prosperity to the nation.

Leader Felicitates Nation on Iranian New Year (3.4.1995)

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK TEHRAN - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei Tuesday underlined the significance of the people's presence on the scenes of the Revolution.

In his address on the occasion of the New Iranian calendar Year (March 21), the Leader said that despite the extensive anti-Iran propaganda of global arrogance and Zionism, Iranians were present on the scenes enthusiastically, an indication of the fact that plots of the enemy would be thwarted through divine will. The Leader described last year as a dynamic and successful year for Islamic Iran and said that those in charge of foreign policy being supported by the nation, took big strides which earned pride for Islamic Iran at international arenas. Ayatollah Khamenei stated that many allegations leveled by devils against Iran were refuted, and enemies of the country and its territorial integrity were disappointed when their vicious objectives did not materialize. The Leader also lauded the performance of the officials in charge of the reconstruction efforts, and underscored the need for unity and coordination between the people and the authorities for the achievement of Iran's goals in the area of reconstruction. The Leader urged the people and authorities to observe economic and monetary discipline and seriously avoid extravagance and irregular consumption. He said the two principles were necessary for the progress and reconstruction of the country. Ayatollah Khamenei also said that labor consciousness would help improve production both qualitatively and quantitatively, broaden the scope of reconstruction, and make smoother the trend of social, administrative and economic affairs. The Leader congratulated Muslim nations of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Central Asia, and regretted the recent developments in Afghanistan. He said that the main reason behind the bloodshed and fratricide in Afghanistan was hegemonic tendencies. Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that Afghan officials and leaders of groups and parties in the country should realize that incorrect policies would bring them disgrace in future. In conclusion the Leader wished prosperity and progress in various economic, social and cultural fields and great political achievements for Muslim nations and disappointment for the enemies of Islam. Meanwhile, the Leader in an address to a massive gathering of the people in Mashhad on March 24 invited them to observe their religious obligations, and underlined the need for further consideration in observance of the ``do's" and ``don't's" as defined by the spirit of the Revolution. In the beginning of his speech Ayatollah Khamenei honored the memory of the late Imam Khomeini's son, the late Hojjatoleslam Seyed Ahmad Khomeini. Referring cultural values, civilization and religion, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the fulfillment of the goals in every religion, culture or civilization depends upon the observance of those values and obligations. Without paying attention to the above standards, no nation would be able to achieve its goals and on the basis of this principle, for achieving the Islamic and revolutionary goals observance of the ``do's" and prohibition of the ``dont's" are essential, the Leader underlined.

Regarding attempts made by the West to impose its culture upon other countries and nations, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated that every nation, in accordance with its needs, has a culture, but unfortunately today the leaders of the world of arrogance and the world military and financial powers are insulting other nations because they have not accepted the deviant culture of the West. Calling the Islamic Revolution a salvation movement for Iran, the Iranians, Islam and the Muslims, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that today the world nations in their practice have praised the achievements of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the existence of inflation and devaluation of the Iranian money, and called them the `desire' of the enemy. He said based on the logic of the religion and Revolution, the arrogants powers are the source of the evil and corruption, and that the government of the U.S. is the vilest enemy of the Iranian nation and the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
